It's rarely spontaneously done, like film can be. Still the live presence is intensity personified. I saw August Wilson's Radio Golf last year, and it hit on so many levels. When it's on, there is nothing like it.The Brown Dog Affairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08496328173223454870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6221810884118399061.post-67510253461732714822008-03-01T13:34:00.000-07:002008-03-01T13:34:00.000-07:00For my birthday, I got to go back and see Les Mis ...For my birthday, I got to go back and see Les Mis once more. They've moved it to a smaller theatre, smaller stage, smaller cast, so some of the sheer spectacle is gone, yet still, 20 people can evoke a city in chaos and stir emotions in a way that no film has done (except one).

I acted at school and college, did the National Youth Theatre thing but then drifted from it, but my Father was far more involved. Shakespere in the Park in the summer, Panto at Xmas and I was brought up a theatre sprat.

I'd forgotten how much I missed it. I doubt it will return to my life now, but thank you for evoking the memories of theatre, and of him.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09747919100595246148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6221810884118399061.post-54946486281962191202008-03-01T13:23:00.000-07:002008-03-01T13:23:00.000-07:00Wow. Sarita Joshi as Sakubai, enacting a maid’s travails in a solo three hour performance, how she’d held the audience in the palm of her hand. One sat on the front bench and one watched spellbound and one clapped till the hands were red. Been a while, now of course we don’t go, but what performances. I’ve never acted, not in school plays either; would just sit and sing.

Goodluck, Quin, get back to them lights.austerehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16839224877080864005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6221810884118399061.post-22289878195944258072008-02-28T18:54:00.000-07:002008-02-28T18:54:00.000-07:00I kick myself for not doing theatre back in HS.
