My Basic Rules in Life

Always own something you can pawn.

If you have a company, name it after yourself.. it's easier to fire people that way. ("Do you see that name over the door? It reads Quinzilla, not (your name)zilla, and I'm Quin. See ya.") My company name is Neoptism....says it all.

Always accept culpability for your actions.

Everyone should have a bit of Atticus Finch in their soul..it would keep a bit of sanity in the world.

You can't take back anything you say, so, think first.

Irrational anger won't get you anywhere and just wastes time. I don't have time to waste, so, please don't waste mine.

Manners and no money will take you further than money and no manners.

It never hurts to smile and say thank you.

Never stop reading.

Always say "I love you" before you leave or say goodbye to those you love.

Friends are the family you choose... because sometimes, Gd just messes up with those you get stuck sharing DNA with. And sometimes, you get lucky, and they are one and the same.

Remember children look to you on how to behave.. and they remember everything you do.

Chat with strangers.. you never know what you'll find out.

Don't be a hater, it makes wrinkles.

Suppressed farts make your hips big. Okay, it's really chocolate, but, the fart line is amusing.

Toothpaste will polish up sterling silver up like no body's business.

He who owns the car chooses the music...unless you are the mom. Then you always choose the music.

We all get old. Be patient with those who have reached that stage first.

Never stand by and let a child suffer.

Friends are the best gift in the world. Always be thankful you have them.

Sometimes, life sucks. It's the way it works out, and nothing is going to change it...it's the way you deal with that suckage that will make you or break you.

It's okay to not always like your kids. Or your friends. Or your family.

I'm not here to please everyone.

Once in awhile, take a day and be mad, depressed, angry....wallow in it, revel in it, lie in bed, cry, eat... mental health days are great.

Not everyone is going to like me. I'm okay with that now.

Don't forget why I'm here. Be glad I have a second chance. Laugh...a lot.

Feel free to add your own... please.

~Always choose doing what is right over doing what is easy
~Doing anonymous acts of good always pay off-even if it's just in your soul
~Listen, really listen, to children-they can tell the difference
~Give people the benefit of the doubt
~Everyone has their own bag of shite that they must carry.
~We all are doing the best we can with the hand we've been dealt.

I don't think there's anything else to add, except possibly music and a voiceover from Baz.

However, you forgot:

Always wear the white hat

Mother's teach daughters who they are, fathers teach them who they can be

Never buy land in Florida from someone called 'Guido'

And no, I'm not claiming credit for these, merely for remembering them

Enjoy every second because you can't get it back.

You have it all covered pretty well, here, Quin.

I also like (and I paraphrase):
Don't spend your life desperately trying to please others.

Erin is almost there.

It's okay, once in a while, not to like your friends or your family. But always remember to like yourself.

Or as Rick Nelson put it, "you can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself."

I still love:

Live every moment as if it were your last as we are not promised tomorrow.

A child's laughter can heal anyone's broken heart...

No matter how much you disagreed as a child, when you grow up, you find out your mother was always right.

Now, honestly, is the fart line real??? LOL!!! :) :)

I like one of George Santayana's rules.

"There's no cure for birth or death, so best enjoy the interval."

Also the philosophy of life according to Popeye:

"I am wot I am, coz I am what I am."

I think those are awesome rules for your life, Miss Quin. It speaks of wisdom and a lot of experience.

I think your life motto should be:

"Life is like a mustache, it can be wonderful or terrible, but it always tickles."

I think it suits you.

And I know that's not what you asked for, but it's all I've got. I'm still learning and trying to figure out my own rules. The only one I really have, that I'm trying to put into practice is:

Be your OWN kind of beautiful.

Personally, I think that's an awesome rule to live by. But damn, it's hard to remember that some days!

There is no point in crying over spilt milk.

Never try to change someone, teach them by example... Also be tolerant of others' foibles.

Your way is not always the right way, not even for you. Listen and learn from others who have made the mistakes first.

Remember you ARE a GODDESS.

I roared at the never buy Land in Florida from Guido line.. I had forgotten that one!

Oh and that reminds me.. Laughter.. HAS to be the best cure for almost every tough situaion
