FckMeDead

I've no idea how to correct this.

Sometimes, I write letters to vent what is in my heart/soul... you know, the ones you tear up? These days, we do emails.

I had written one, one of many I've written, that I always hit 'delete', feeling better, knowing my scattered emotions and long felt held forth heart words are said, if not delivered.

So, it's written... I'm feeling solid...getting ready to delete, as always... I'm moving the mouse up to hit delete....

...at this point, it was all slow motion. I often type sitting on a bar chair, my feet propped up on the other, my little computer on my lap... they are called laptops, aren't they? S l o w l y I moved the little arrow thing to the delete part of the email page. S l o w l y the pit bull moves from a four legged stance to putting his feet on my.....laptop. I watch in horror as the computer says "message sent".

No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The one time I actually put the address in the email, the ONE time! Sweetmotherofgod. Jesusmaryandjosephandallthesaintsinutah.

Now, we curse slow connections. We shout when letters are lost that we need to have go somewhere. We are furious when a wireless suddenly goes away....yes, it was a stolen wireless, still, he should have left it on longer.

This time, when I am frantically hitting the STOP button, it flies off with the ease of George Bush sending young people off to Iraq to spread democracy at the cost of their lives.

I may have to change my name and/or see if the convent in Greece is still taking novices. What do you do? Write another letter and say, "Gee, you know that mail I just sent? Well, ignore it, the dog sent it."

Till this moment I wasn't entirely sure that FMD meant what I thought it did. Thank you for confirming it for me. Oh, The email thing? Sounds like a bad sitcom moment hon. NEVER commit to paper/email rants or other not for public consumption stuff, even momentarily. Just talk to yourself. It's safer, plus it tends to keep people away unless they really like you!

"The dog sent it." LOVE IT! I think emails should have 5 min lag time, so you can change your mind/fix the typos you see even after you've comitted to sending it. meh - I wanna post about this person's response!

verm~everyone talks to themselves here, no one would notice. heh.

mb~i've changed this answer four times..yes, i still think about the dog and cringe..and there won't be a response from him. 'nuff said.

Just beware of "reply alls," my dear friend. Once, being caught in an email triad of responses, I once emailed the WRONG person regarding the new guy she was dating. I told the person in question (thinking it was another friend) that the guy (if he was who I thought he was) was "creepy and really strange looking." Well, yeah, I sent it to the gal, not the other friend who I intended to send the email. OUCH! When she replied, I tried to coyly state that I was confused and replied to the wrong email, because, after all, another friend and I were in a similiar email conversation. *wink, wink. Luckily it worked and the original faux paus was dropped.

But I don't think my poor little heart raced as much as that "oh F&*k" moment. :)

I only ever had that happen once, and I decided my best play was to mentally prepare myself for owning my mistake completely. As in, "Yes, I'm wrong, I effed it up," and suffering the consequences.

Of which there wound up being none, but ONLY because I was lucky (and, as it turned out, not alone in having voiced my opinion to the person in question).

I don't know if you'll be as lucky as I was, but preparing my responses at least took some of the ancillary stress off of me while I waited for the poopstorm.

asc~i can remember that happening in the days of chat, and forgetting what window you were gossip...talking in.

gw~this wasn't a mean letter by any account, that's the problem. it was one of those "i'm not emailing him anymore because i can't live with this unrequited love, but, my heart aches, so, this is what i'd say if i still was letting myself write you" emails. yeah. shoot me.

You need to think positive about this. Everything happens for a reason. It might turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you in your life even if it sucks for a while. Some of my smallest mistakes have turned out to be my biggest disasters and my greatest successes, but in the end everything that I have done up until this point in my life good and bad has made me the person I am and I like the person I am although I could use a little tweaking here and there. I am what I am because of the sum of my past.

Whatever the email was, it's always better to say important stuff in person. This, I've learned the hard way many a time. Still, the email's out there. Maybe it can open up a good, positive significant conversation?

hh~i'd love to do it in person...impossible to happen, methinks. cross your fingers.

Then, Quin, why not tell the person in question, "Hey, I sent you an email that maybe is best discussed over a cup of coffee/lemonade/insert summertime drink here. Maybe it's for the better??

I'll think good thoughts for you!
